Vintage Velvet

Ohhhhhhla la !! I just got in these vintage cut velvets. Some are from France some originated in Belgium and some I just found at estate sales. Sometimes I just get little pieces, and some were ready to be made into pillows. I just love the feel of old velvets. And the colors are so fabulous!! Just starting to make some new purses with them. Fall skirts

As you can tell Risa wasn't to thrilled to model for me. Actually she was in a really bad mood.She hates it when I say hurry the lights fading, put this on quick! I really need to get a professional.Let me know if any of you out there would like to do it in trade. So many new new vintage fabrics coming in!!!

The horse next door

It's nice having some horses next door. Piper wants one so bad.But this is a good arrangement for now.I've made these new black knit skirts with lace and applique, they are so pretty. The problem is I don't snap a picture of them before a show.So they've all sold already.I'm making more so I'll make sure I'll get a photo of them soon. Thanks again Heather for hosting a show.She makes the coolest hair bands. She's going to start selling them locally too! Should of taken a picture of that too.

Two great shows this week! Getting a lot of new fall stuff done. New vintage fabrics and appliqued skirts!

vintage velvets

I'm getting in so many cool vintage velvets. I use table runners,table cloths or old velvet coats. The feel and thickness of these velvets are amazing. I love working with them. There's just an integrity to something that has lasted through time and is still just as beautiful. It's like when I see a very old oil painting and the richness and depth of the color are still present. Amazing to me that something can last so long, when on the other end of the spectrum I buy clothing for my kids and it falls apart after the first washing.

Fall show this weekend

Wellsville mountains

We hiked to the top of the Wellsvilles last weekend. They're supposedly one of the steepest ranges in Utah. We went up to see the Hawks and Eagles that are migrating right now. It was a pretty long hike and the kids did awesome! it was so windy we only saw a few hawks. But the view was amazing! I love these warm fall days we're having, I hope it last for a little longer!

Open House Wednesday in Bountiful

9th & 9th Street Festival Saturday!!

9th&9th Street Festival is tomorrow. They are going to have some great local bands, good food and of course fun booths. We're going to be there so come see us!! This is down town Salt Lake city. Also some pictures of some gray's I'm working on... lots of new stuff!

As you can see the chapel is still intact.The pews are all hand carved, and the balcony is just cool.Neighbors share stories about going to church there when they were little.

When I walk up the stairs with my hand on the banister, I just think this was carved out 100 years ago

For some reason we said yes to be on the Historical Home tour this weekend. It sounded like a great idea 4 months ago. Thinking we could get all these projects done in time. Well it was a little nutty trying to get everything in order. Plus there are still so much more we want to renovate and fix up. But here is a little glimpse of what we've done to the inside. I do have a studio here but it's a mess cuz I was doing peach Days this weekend also. By the way , so great to see so many gracious customers, thanks for coming over to say hi.Here's a little history. The church was completed in 1905, it was an LDS church, Hyrum 1rst ward. We have been here about 4 years, and are still loving it. We don't know if we'll ever get all the things done on our list. But the projects have been fun. I have huge plans for the landscaping, but that keeps getting put back for the more urgent projects, Like a new roof ect...
